Optical Flats
What are Optical Flats and how are they used?
An optical flat is a contact optical measurement device used in conjunction with a monochromatic light source to measure precision flat surfaces.
Lapmaster Optical Flats are manufactured using the finest quality materials and the latest manufacturing techniques. The optical flats are made either from the highest quality clear fused quartz, which is known for its very low thermal expansion characteristics and resistance to abrasion, or Zerodur**, a glass ceramic material with ideal properties for this application.
Our Optical Flats are available in a full range of standard sizes from 25mm to 600mm diameter. Larger, smaller and special shapes optical flats will be quoted upon request. Lapmaster optical flats can be single or double surfaced and available in certified optical accuracies of 1/8th light band, 1/4 light band, and 1/2 light band.
